The past few months have been full of excitement for the No-Moor clan. November saw Brooke head back to work, about the middle of the month and Harlow had her first days in daycare. We're pretty sure it was much harder for mom & dad than it was for Harlow. She is greatly entertained with all of the other kids, and is showered with affection and love while she's there. AFter a few weeks a new friend, Charlie, had come on the scene, and Harlow was thrilled to no longer be the yougest on there, but she was still the smallest. Apparently Charlie out weighed her by a good 3 -5 pounds. :) The end of the month brought in the first signs of snow for the year and we had a very white, but cozy Thansgiving in Port Angeles with the Moorheads. Harlow met lots of new people that weekend, and also decided she wasn't a big fan of turkey yet.
December brought some more snow and it really began to feel like Christmas. The little shack at 614 Ballarat transformed into its usual Santa haven, and the Moorheads came over to celebrate the Christmas holiday. Needless to say Santa was overly kind to the littlest No-Moor and her new toys have been keeping her entertained and she's a very stylish baby now with all her new clothes, as well.
In January Auntie Jennie came to visit us from Micigan for a week. She and Ms. Harlow had some good bonding time and she offered an invaluable third set of (adult) hands as we got the little shack ready to go on the market for sale. Yes, that's right, we were trying to sell our little home. Then we weren't ... and now we're thinking about it again.
Easter and our first Mother's Day were made very special as Grandma & Grandpa Regan were visiting the No-Moors in good ol' North Bend. Harlow had her first few bouts of nervousness with some new people in the house, but in no time she was loving her time with her grandparents. Granted the hours of walks that Grandpa took her on, and Grandma singing with her probably helped significantly. She had her first sauerkraut and kielbasa and to be honest there's not much she won't eat ... except baby food that is. She never took to pureed foods and even with no teeth she was bound and determined to gum regular food. To this day she acts like baby cereal or even yogurt are nuclear waste.
In May there were some new additons to the family. We now share our space, and soon our yard with five chickens! Edna, Matilda, Henrietta, Stella and Beatrice are just getting ready to make their way outdoors now that they have their feathers and the weather is decent (most of the time). Fresh eggs... here we come!
At nine Months Harlow weighed in at a whopping 16 lbs and 26". While she may be small she has a ton of personality to squueze in that little body. She's chatting away and mama and baba and dada are regularly heard throughout the house. She also loves to sing, and is very hapy when we sing along with her, using her words of course. Harlow loves to be outside and she helps us with the yard work by pulling grass. We're taking bets on if she's palnning to crawl or not, but the odds are in favor of no. The exer-saucer is her favorite thing as she zooms around the house and chases the cats. We think it's a little less entertaining for the cats than it is for Harlow though.
August will bring Harlow's first plane ride and we're gearing up for that. We're all really lookig forward to seeing our mid-west friends and family, and enjoying the sunshine that Michigan offers in the summer!

October 2010
At two months old Harlow weighed in at 9 lbs. 7 oz, about a 50% increase since she was born, and grew about 2 1/2 inches, and now measures 21 1/2 inches long. She's one of those kids that just seems to keep growing taller all the time. She also was a serious trooper and made it through her first real round of vaccines like a champ. Truthfully, the experience was probably more stressful for mom than her.
Harlow knocked our socks off over the past few weeks when at five weeks old she stole our hearts by sharing her adorable smile with us. Nothing melts our heart more than when the little munchkin looks at us and gives us her big toothless grin. At six weeks old, exactly, she wowed us again by rolling over, from her tummy to her back, and continued to impress us with her trick four or five more times that morning.
Scott and Brooke celebrated their two year anniversary in late September and went on a lovely impromptu trip to Winthrop, WA. Once we were able to get on our way, after almost two hours of traffic, it was a gorgeous trip through one of the valleys in the North Casacades during a sunny fall weekend. Harlow loved the car rides, and by loved we mean slept through, and reveled in the smells of BBQ as Scott and Brooke had a yummy dinner at a little mom & pop restaurant.
We went pumpkin hunting in early October and Harlow "helped" her parents carve the pumkins up for Halloween. She met all sorts of new people, and was mightly popular, as we visited friends and celebrated the holiday. We also took Harlow on her first hike in the middle of the month, and have since been hitting the hills around our house on as many weekends as possible. Lucky for us we have numerous places to go only a short drive from home.
It was also Scott's big birthday in October, as he turned 40 this year, and we celebrated with several small gatherings. We had dinner with the Moorhead clan, a game night with friends (and lots of good food and wine) and, in keeping with an annual tradition, the No-Moors went out for a special Japanese/sushi dinner.
Now-a-days Harlow "talks" more (aka coos) and when we sing she trys to join in and giggles. Maybe in the coming months we'll find out if she's laughing at us.

September 2010
Phew! The days are flying by and somehow September has been here and gone in all but a blink of an eye.
One of our big announcements is that we are now officially (and legally) the Novak-Moorhead family. Yes, shortly before Harlow was born, both Brooke and Scott changed their last name to an (admittably long) hyphenated version of both of their last names. That being said, we're still the No-Moors to their friends and families.
Ms. Harlow is now over four weeks old and has kept everyone entertained and in love. She's also been busy with her own schedule of sleeping, eating, pooping, eating, being adorable, eating, etc. etc. She's a strong little baby and has been practicing holding her head up since she was only a couple of days old. Harlow is also practicing smiling, and makes some really cute noises as she plays in her swing or dozes off to sleep. Most recently she showed us how she can pick up her pacifier with her mouth when it falls out ... if it's close enough that is. When the weather is nice she and her Brooke go for walks, which they both really enjoy, though Harlow seems to use them as an opportunity to nap while mom does all the walking.
In general we seem to be adjusting quite well to our new arrival, but the cats (Tasia and Argus) seem some what more nonplussed with the additional family member than their parents. We celebrated our two year anniversary this month and we're heading out for a quick get away, with the baby in tow, to Winthrop, WA, which is near the North Cascade National Park. We'll let you know how the adventure goes in our next posting.
Grandma Novak came to stay with the No-Moors for a little over two weeks, shortly after Harlow arrived, and was a great help with the new arrival (while showering her with hugs and kisses) and cooking and cleaning up the 'shack' at 614 Ballarat Ave. We're still ejoying some of her culinary treats that were put in the freezer.
Grandma and Grandpa Moorhead have also been able to come and visit their first grandchild a few times since she was born. They, along with Uncle Barry, really put in some elbow grease and helped Scott working on some of the remaining projects on the 'shack', specifically working on the roof that has had a leak for longer than they care to admit. :)
While only a few weeks old, Harlow is feeling incredibly loved and has been excited to meet some of mom & dad's friends and is looking forward to meeting the rest soon. Thanks to all of you!
Take a look at our pics from the past month and if you're curious what we were up to the past few months take a look at our April thru August photo album.
With love and hugs,
The No-Moors

It's a ...
GIRL!
Yes, much to the surprise of the expectant parents, the little biscuit has been confirmed as a girl. We're hoping the fact that they'd been thinking it was a boy was only to help them prepare in case it was a boy (because they'll admit it... they've been hoping for a girl) and not a sign of their parental instincts!
Sticking to her habits from all of her previous tests/ultrasounds, this kid is a complete squirmer and after a 40 minute wait (with a full bladder for mom none the less) it took a while to get all the necessary pictures because this kid either doesn't want to sit still, or doesn't like being bothered. Either way, below are some sneak peaks of the little cutie ... AKA Biscuit.
Here's her little face...
and her little feet ...
And of course a cute little profile. (You can thank us in person for sparing you the pictures that actually confirm her gender as well as the picture of mom's kidney's, bladder, etc. etc.)

Starting Out ...
With some major changes on our horizons we've decided to kick off our family blog as a way to compensate for our sometimes lax email correspondence. Hopefully you'll come visit us here, to get the details on the latest and greatest happening at the NoMoor homestead. (Thanks so much to Kristi, Kit and Dominic as their adorable blog has been a major source of our inspiration.)
The past few days we've had our 'guest shed' installed in the backyard as we get ready for a parade of guests, that we're so excited to see, this summer. The next few weekends will be spent prepping the place to make it ready for its upcoming inhabitants.
In other news, as some of you may know, we finally get to find out the gender of our little "biscuit" on Monday, April 19th! Make sure you check back on Monday evening (Pacific time) to find out the big news! (If you're a betting person this is your chance, you know you've got a 50/50 chance of getting this one right... now those are good odds!)
